Lead with Literacy Virtual Fundraiser
Millions of Texans are unable to read and write, and Texas ranks 47th nationwide in literacy. And if that wasn't shocking enough, literacy was one of the critical social services that tumbled during the COVID pandemic. Tarrant Literacy Coalition is partnering with Literacy Texas and 28 hard-working literacy nonprofits from all across the state for a virtual fundraiser supporting teaching and tutoring for thousands of Texans learning to read, write, improve language, become citizens, earn a high school equivalency certificate, or gain skilled employment.
Join us for "Lead with Literacy!" - a VERY special fundraiser that promises to be as engaging and fun as our annual Corporate Spelling Bee. The event will be MC'ed by national radio host Krys Boyd, of KERA’s call-in-radio program “Think,” and will feature “A Way with Words” radio co-hosts and language experts, Martha Barnette & Grant Barrett. For those unfamiliar with A Way With Words, the radio show and podcast examines language through the lens of family, history, and culture. The co-hosts believe in the power of words to hurt and to heal, to teach respect for different cultures and peoples, and to just be downright fun.
When you purchase a 100% tax-deductible ticket and select Tarrant Literacy Coalition, we will receive all funds raised. Tickets are just $40, but the entertainment received is priceless!
Please join us for this first-of-its-kind interactive virtual event that celebrates the joy of language and how the gift of literacy transforms lives. Your participation will provide critical support to our nonprofit as we continue working with adult learners and those who teach them across the state.
