Zoom web conference (link will be sent upon registration)

Among the many concerns facing folks in our North Texas Community during the COVID-19 pandemic, stretching financial resources as employment opportunities shrank and jobs were lost became a major concern. As local and state regulations contract and expand, and community programs and schools wrestle with returning while staying safe, financial concerns that our students face impact our programs' viability. But how can we help alleviate students' worry when we educators may be facing the same uncertainty?

Tarrant Literacy Coalition returns to its Forum Series this month, from the safety of Zoom to bring you a Financial Literacy session that will equip you with practical tools that you can use in your own life and can easily adapt to your HSE or ESL programs. Presented by Kevin von Atzigen, Vice President at UMB Bank, whose personal experience and approach to financial basics have helped individuals and businesses become financially secure.

Register today for our July 17th session!

Zoom link and sample worksheets will be sent prior to the event.
Professional development credit is available and certificates will be sent after the Forum!

About our speaker: Kevin von Atzigen

"I am a commercial banker for UMB Bank. I lead a team of portfolio managers responsible for overseeing and growing the $1Bn+ Texas & Oklahoma Region loan portfolio.

I was born and raised in Texas in the small town of Perrin, about an hour and a half west of the DFW Metroplex. As the youngest of three brothers, I learned a lot from seeing what works best (or worst!) and my parents always encouraged me to forge my own path and take challenges head-on.

I went to college at the University of North Texas and was very involved as a Resident Assistant and Orientation Leader. During that time, I was helping make campus home for many and provided mentoring to new students while sharing the culture and showing them a few of the fun things about college life. After switching majors more than you can count on one hand, I graduated with a degree in Sociology and Real Estate.

Having a knack for numbers and intense curiosity in entrepreneurialism, I began working for a bank in Denton, TX while attending UNT. That bank and the people I worked with laid the foundation for how I approach my work & life today. I went from typing a teller manual as contract labor, to teaching from that same manual as a lead teller and trainer in consumer banking before moving to the commercial side as an assistant portfolio manager and underwriter.

Along the way, I’m fortunate to have met so many people willing to help and share knowledge to better myself. I try to emulate those that have had an impact on my life everyday in the hopes that I will do the same for others."
