 ity during the COVID-19 pandemic\, stretching financial resources as emplo
 yment opportunities shrank and jobs were lost became a major concern. As  
 local and state regulations contract and expand\, and community programs a
 nd schools wrestle with returning while staying safe\, financial concerns 
 that our students face impact our programs' viability. But how can we help
  alleviate students' worry when we educators may be facing the same uncert
 ainty?\n\nTarrant Literacy Coalition returns to its Forum Series this mont
 h\, from the safety of Zoom to bring you a Financial Literacy session that
  will equip you with practical tools that you can use in your own life and
  can easily adapt to your HSE or ESL programs. Presented by Kevin von Atzi
 gen\, Vice President at UMB Bank\, whose personal experience and approach 
 to financial basics have helped individuals and businesses become financia

 bout our speaker: Kevin von Atzigen\n\n'I am a commercial banker for UMB B
 ank.  I lead a team of portfolio managers responsible for overseeing and g
 rowing the $1Bn+ Texas & Oklahoma Region loan portfolio.\n\nI was born and
  raised in Texas in the small town of Perrin\, about an hour and a half we
 st of the DFW Metroplex.  As the youngest of three brothers\, I learned a 
 lot from seeing what works best (or worst!) and my parents always encourag
 ed me to forge my own path and take challenges head-on. \n\nI went to coll
 ege at the University of North Texas and was very involved as a Resident A
 ssistant and Orientation Leader.  During that time\, I was helping make ca
 mpus home for many and provided mentoring to new students while sharing th
 e culture and showing them a few of the fun things about college life.  Af
 ter switching majors more than you can count on one hand\, I graduated wit
 h a degree in Sociology and Real Estate.\n\nHaving a knack for numbers and
  intense curiosity in entrepreneurialism\, I began working for a bank in D
 enton\, TX while attending UNT.  That bank and the people I worked with la
 id the foundation for how I approach my work & life today.  I went from ty
 ping a teller manual as contract labor\, to teaching from that same manual
  as a lead teller and trainer in  consumer banking before moving to the co
 mmercial side as an assistant portfolio manager and underwriter.\n\nAlong 
 the way\, I’m fortunate to have met so many people willing to help and sha
 re knowledge to better myself.  I try to emulate those that have had an im
 pact on my life everyday in the hopes that I will do the same for others.'
