About the Workshop: Teaching Strategies for Adult Students with Learning Disabilities is a one-day workshop designed to address student- and program-specific problems regarding the effective and appropriate provision of services for adult students with learning disabilities. The format of the program includes both small and large-group discussions, as well as numerous individual and small-group activities to practice various instructional strategies. This workshop includes information about multisensory instruction for basic skills, metacognitive skills instruction, using assistive technology to augment learning and processing needs, and online resources for educational and workplace needs.
Presenter: Patti White, Disabilities Project Manager, Arkansas Adult Learning Resource Center
In her position as Disabilities Project Manager, Patti provides various disabilities related training and individual student consultation for adult education and literacy programs in Arkansas. Patti's accomplishments include assisting in the development of the nationwide Bridges to Practice learning disabilities training project as well as the training and implementation of that project in 15 states. Patti presents at numerous state and national conferences and serves on committees that oversee critical aspects of topics related to learning disabilities in adulthood.
Patti's approach to training and professional development is very practical, so attendees at this session can be assured that they will enjoy a day filled with practical applications, resources, and strategies to help their students.
