Learning to Achieve
The Tarrant Literacy Coalition and the Learning Center of North Texas are pleased to announce that the Texas Center for the Advancement of Literacy and Learning has granted funds to our area to provide Learning to Achieve for instructors in our community on Thursday & Friday, June 20-21, 2013.
This training is designed to help GED, ESL and Adult Basic Ed instructors gain a new understanding of the difficulties experienced by adult learners who struggle with learning disabilities. The training will include three different modules:
· Self-Determination (will help educators gain an understanding of the importance of self-determination and learn strategies to help their learners develop the motivation and self-confidence to pursue and succeed in education and employment);
· Explicit Instruction (will explore specific practices that are important in explicit instruction for strategy learning for adults);
· Reading Disabilities (will cover the considerations and strategies in each of the component areas of reading to effectively work with adults who struggle).
The training will be held at First Baptist Church of Arlington, 301 South Center St., Arlington, TX 76010.
REGISTRATION IS LIMITED TO 24 PARTICIPANTS.
COST IS $10 PER PERSON, WHICH COVERS AFTERNOON SNACKS AND LUNCH ON FRIDAY.
