What is a literacy coalition?

A literacy coalition is a convener of different groups of stakeholders, who work together to support the issue of literacy and improve basic educational opportunities for the residents in their communities.

The Tarrant Literacy Coalition's main goals are to:

1. Increase public awareness and outreach
2. Increase the quantity and improve the quality of programs
3. Build a mutually beneficial partnership between business and literacy communities
4. Advocate for change and increase funding from local and state elected officials
5. Centralize and evaluate program results
6. Identify best practices and provide training resources
7. Fund Coalition partner literacy programs and develop further resources
