Service-learning is a teaching and learning strategy that integrates meaningful community service with instruction and reflection to enrich the learning experience, teach civic responsibility, and strengthen communities.
Just as literacy programs encourage lifelong learning and the intentional process of learning through a variety of methods, so do colleges and universities. Many campuses have established offices of civic engagement and service-learning to promote a new type of volunteerism that is combined with academic learning.
Begin to see your education as much more than a collection of courses and credits and participate in service-learning to apply real world experience to the policies and issues that interest you.
Serve as a catalyst for positive, relevant change in a field, topic, or issue important to you. To view examples of possible projects related to a specific major or department, download our project description flyer:
We partner with several colleges and universities with service-learning programs. Review their websites to find the opportunity that is perfect for your needs.
