What is Service-Learning?

Service-learning is a teaching and learning strategy that integrates meaningful community service with instruction and reflection to enrich the learning experience, teach civic responsibility, and strengthen communities.

Link Literacy to Your Studies

Just as literacy programs encourage lifelong learning and the intentional process of learning through a variety of methods, so do colleges and universities. Many campuses have established offices of civic engagement and service-learning to promote a new type of volunteerism that is combined with academic learning.

Begin to see your education as much more than a collection of courses and credits and participate in service-learning to apply real world experience to the policies and issues that interest you.
