If you are interested in exploring literacy events, but don't know where to start, here's a summary of some of your options.

The Coalition supports literacy providers with a variety of resources. Click to learn more.

Networking Events

Broaden your community and collaborate with other instructors, volunteers, and advocates as you sample new experiences. Networking events not only offer an opportunity to learn something new, but also to meet others who share your desire to help adults improve their literacy and life skills. Small informal gatherings, book give-aways and large literacy symposiums and conferences offer a wide range of opportunities to network with fellow literacy teachers, tutors and volunteers. Sign up to receive our email updates so you don't miss out on any of these great activities.

Training Events

Listen to and learn from leaders in Adult Basic Education, English as a Second Language/English for Speakers of Other Languages (ESL/ESOL) High School Equivalency (HSE) tests, and US Citizenship instruction.

Training events offer tips, techniques, and most importantly, practice. Perfect your presentation skills at "Training of Trainers" or prepare to submit a grant proposal at "Guide to Grant Writing". These are just a few examples of the events the Coalition hosts for those who are already involved in literacy or who are interested in getting involved.

Volunteer Engagement

If you are a literacy program director, you can light the way for your volunteers, whether they are brand-new to your organization or seasoned veterans of teaching. Volunteer events offer opportunities to explore new concepts of volunteer recruitment, management, and recognition. Volunteers are vital assets to the success of many programs - don't let them slip away.

Community Events

Community literacy events are occurring all across Tarrant County. Come to listen to students talk about their experiences, hear from refugees who have come to America to start a new life, or share your passion for literacy at a festival or fair. The Coalition partners with other organizations to provide you with a variety of ways to get involved--and have FUN! You'll have a chance to meet others who are also involved in this important movement.
