Our list of adult literacy programs continues to grow. We are working to build a comprehensive database of providers, but it is difficult to say how many programs exist and how many students they are actually serving. Because each organization has a different way of counting their students (some count everyone who enrolls, other count only those who attend a certain number of hours in a given time period), it is impossible to calculate the total number of students currently being served. However, we believe that conservative estimates show that more than 5,000 students are being served by these organizations.
